Former teacher to discuss family, loss, and belonging
– Templeton Library will host author Jacque Gorelick for a free book signing on June 17 at 3 p.m. at the library.
Gorelick, author of “Map of a Heart: A Memoir of Love, Loss and Finding the Way Home,” will read selections from her debut book and sign copies.
A former elementary school teacher, Gorelick has written essays on family and motherhood that have appeared in publications including the New York Times and the Washington Post.
According to information provided by the library, Gorelick spent her childhood searching for a sense of belonging before pursuing degrees in psychology and education in San Francisco. Her work explores how family shapes people and how individuals define family for themselves.
Templeton Library is located at 1173 S. Main St., across from Templeton High School.
The volunteer-run library provides full library services and includes children’s and young adult sections. Templeton residents continue to pay 1.6% of their property taxes for library services, but the community does not receive library services funding from San Luis Obispo County.
