Paso Robles Rotary awards $115,000 in scholarships to local students
Annual fundraiser helps support scholarships for trade schools and colleges
– The Paso Robles Rotary Club awarded $116,500 in scholarships to 31 Paso Robles students this year, with funding generated through community support and the club’s annual Winemakers’ Cookoff fundraiser.
The scholarships support students pursuing education at trade schools, colleges, and universities.
The club’s 27th Annual Winemakers’ Cookoff is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Paso Robles Event Center. Organizers said proceeds from the event help fund the scholarship program and other community initiatives.
“At its heart, the Winemakers’ Cookoff is about investing in our community’s future,” said Dr. Patrick Sayne, scholarship committee chair for the Paso Robles Rotary Club. “This year alone, we awarded $116,500 across 31 scholarships to outstanding Paso Robles students pursuing everything from skilled trades to four-year degrees. That’s the real story behind this event.”
For nearly three decades, the Winemakers’ Cookoff has brought together wineries, breweries, and community members for an evening of food, beverages, and competition.
Attendees will have an opportunity to sample food and beverages prepared by participating winemakers and brewers. Teams will compete for awards, and guests will vote for their favorites in the People’s Choice Award competition.
The Paso Robles Rotary Club is inviting community members to attend the event. Tickets and additional information are available at winemakerscookoff.com.
The Rotary Club of Paso Robles was chartered in 1924 and participates in community service projects and fundraising efforts throughout the region. In addition to its scholarship program, the club supports local projects including homeless shelters, food banks, and dictionary distribution programs for third-grade students.
