Cambria man arrested in child sexual abuse material investigation

– A Cambria man was arrested June 10 following an investigation into the possession of suspected child sexual abuse material, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Leighton Street as part of an ongoing investigation that began in April. The Sheriff’s Office and San Luis Obispo Police Department received multiple tips regarding the possession of suspected child sexual abuse material, authorities said.
Investigators identified the suspect as Roberto MercadoLeonardo, 45, of Cambria.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, MercadoLeonardo was arrested on charges related to the possession of more than 600 images of suspected child sexual abuse material.
MercadoLeonardo has since been released from San Luis Obispo County Jail after posting bail.
Authorities said it remains undetermined whether any local victims are associated with the suspect.
