Sidewalk construction on Crocker Street underway

Special from the Soaring Eagle Press

SidewalkSidewalk and curb ramp construction along the west side Crocker between 6th and 8th Streets, between the Park and Templeton Elementary School, is underway and will continue through early August 2014. The sidewalks will provide a “safe route to school” for Templeton Elementary and Middle School students, and will be completed before school starts.

The improvements were identified as an important project by the Templeton Unified School District (TUSD) and received broad community support from the Templeton Area Advisory Group (TAAG), the California Highway Patrol (CHP), The Templeton Chamber of Commerce, and the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG).

The work is funded by a “Safe Routes to School” grant and a State grant administered by Caltrans, in conjunction with matching San Luis Obispo County Road funds. The Board of Supervisors awarded a contract for the work in the amount of $89,280 to CalPortland Construction of Santa Maria.
