Taylor Lindquist is crowned Miss California Mid-State Fair 2014
Taylor Mae Lindquist, a graduate of Templeton High School and current student at Cal Poly SLO, was crowned Miss California Mid-State Fair on Tuesday night. Lindquist, 18, competed alongside 11 additional contestants at the Frontier Stage platform in five areas: interview, platform, talent, swimsuit, and evening wear as emcee Chad Stevens led the evening’s festivities.
“I am shocked and a little bit in disbelief,” Lindquist said after the festivities. “All of these girls are so amazing and I just feel so honored.”
Lauren Rodrigues, 20, was named first runner-up and Devin Corea, 17, was named second runner-up. Rodrigues is a graduate of Paso Robles High School and currently attends California State University, Fresno. Corea is 17 years old and a graduate of Paso Robles High School; she will attend the University of San Diego this fall.
Rebecca Sligh earned the title of Miss Congeniality from her fellow contestants. Sligh, 18, is a graduate of Templeton High School and she will attend Cuesta College in the fall.
As the winner of the Miss California Mid-State Fair title, Lindquist will be awarded a $500 scholarship. The entire court will participate in judging and opening events, sign autographs and represent the best aspects of the Mid-State Fair during the following 10 days and throughout the year at community events. With her platform — FFA? Get Agucated! — Lindquist wants to educate the community on what FFA has to offer. With help from FFA advisors she plans to showcase FFA at local farmers markets and have an educational booth at the Fair.
