Hot cars take to El Camino Real Friday night

Vehicles of all varieties cruise up and down El Camino Real in the annual Hot El Camino Cruise Nite. This year’s will take place on Friday, Aug. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Atascadero’s main drag closes down for annual Cruise Nite

Atascadero’s annual Hot El Camino Cruise Nite is fast approaching. The closed, controlled cruise will take place on Friday, Aug. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on El Camino Real between Curbaril Road and Traffic Way.

The annual event draws thousands of spectators to come out to watch this fun, entertaining, and family-oriented parade of cars. Cruise Nite brings those with old-fashioned favorites to new and flashy hot rods from all over the county and surrounding areas.

Atascadero resident Katrina Pobst said that the annual Cruise Nite is a fun family night out, and it is fun to watch the children watch the cars cruise by, or cruising themselves.

“Hot El Camino Cruise Nite is one of several moments during the year when Atascadero really shines,” Atascadero resident Rob Brown said. “At the Cruise Nite, you will get to see vivid proof Atascadero is one of the few places that actively practices the lost art of being a small town community.”

Walk-in registration is located at the Colony Park Community Center, located at 5599 Traffic Way, and will continue through Friday, Aug. 15 at 4 p.m. The cost is $26 per car if registered by the time walk-in registration ends. Late registrations will be handled on-site beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of San Luis and Pueblo avenues, with the entrance from Curbaril Avenue. All cars must be street legal.
