Lois Capps accused of running misleading attack ad

Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara, was accused this week of running a misleading attack ad that edits statements made by her opponent Chris Mitchum, Tab Berg with the Mitchum for Congress campaign reports in Noozhawk of Santa Barbara.
Capps, a local congresswoman representing Paso Robles and much of the central coast, is facing Republican challenger Mitchum in the general election on Nov. 4.
The commercial edits a 2012 statement from Mitchum, who, in a videotaped response to a question, says he will not go to Washington to fight for pork, the report says. “I do not intend to go to Washington, to represent the 24th District, to bring back baseball fields,” he says in the unedited clip.
The Capps campaign ad, which was running on several local TV stations, edited the quote to make it sound as if Mitchum is saying he wouldn’t represent the 24th Congressional District. “I do not intend to go to Washington, to represent the 24th District,” the misleading ad quotes Mitchum, without the rest of the sentence.

“Here at the Mitchum campaign, we know it’s up to us to keep the campaign clean, spot on the issues that affect every voter, and run our race on the merits,” Mitchum’s campaign staff says on his website. “The incumbent obviously does not think that way.”
Capps pulled the commercial Thursday after receiving a cease and desist letter from the California Republican Party, Cal Coast News reports. On Wednesday, Capps campaign spokesperson Chris Meagher told KEYT he does not see anything wrong with the ad.
Polling in Congressional District 24 shows that Mitchum has surged into a slight lead over 16-year incumbent Capps, according to a survey conducted Oct. 15-16 by Probolsky Research, the Mitchum campaign reports. Mitchum’s lead in the survey – 41.5% to 40.5% – is within the margin of error, but shows the race is close.
Well duh, anybody with half a brain can see that she clearly edited out the rest of his thought just to make it sound like he doesn't intend on representing the Central Coast.. On that alone, I will not vote for Lois Capps. I don't believe in bullshit campaigns and attack ads. If you don't have a platform that stands for something and has merit and value, then this is the kind of crap that you resort to. Her campaign spokesman is an idiot if he doesn't see anything wrong with the ad.

Lois Capps basically "retired in place" years ago. She doesn't control her campaign committee. Her Santa Barbara office hired an ex-con who proceeded to run down and kill a pedestrian and then drove away. She walks around with index cards for different topics so she will be able to address issues.
She is the only Congressperson I have heard of that got mixed up and, after reading a speech to the House, sat down and voted against her own bill. SHE VOTED AGAINST HER OWN BILL.
Vote for Chris Mitchum. He is intelligent, honest, and wants to help the Central Coast. He still has the mental faculties to understand the issues; Lois is out of it.
Well it's still on KSBY as of Friday 3:45 pm! If Capps can mislead in ads like this how can she be trusted to tell us the truth on other things?

Capps is an alter-ego of Nancy Pelosi. She has no free will of her own. Capps has voted with Nancy Pelosi more than any other member of Congress.

Looks like she's not the sweet little Grandmotherly type that she's led all her constituents to believe. Her campaign is stooping too low to "win at all costs."
The ads are still on. Today (Saturday) at 3:00 on K-JUG the same (audio) ad was on. The difference however, is that they never mentioned Lois Capps. It was paid for by the Democratic Committee, and were just pushing to vote AGAINST Mitchum. So maybe they think that is now OK. Still misleading misquoted, taken out of context and edited.

Worst part? Those with LESS than 1/2 a brain RE-ELECTED HER!
This is the land of the public employee. They tax themselves to perpetuate their paycheck s and benefits and medical and pensions for life. For life! All the while the private sector works longer and harder to manage their own lives and pay for this government class which I declare works far lw.ess hard for a far better, lifetime deal. Time is way past to say FU to there public employees. Maybe they could do a six month stint whereby they work to pay us private people a guaranteed salary and benefit package with pension. I want to call in sick and get paid. Enough!!!,
