The 7th Annual Tour of Paso on March 21 benefits local cancer patients & their families
Calling all cyclists – a Launch Party will be held on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Castoro Cellars, located at 1315 North Bethel Road just off Hwy 41 in Templeton, to kick off fundraising efforts for the 7th Annual Tour of Paso Founder’s Team Challenge, taking place on March 21.
Community members and business owners are encouraged to turn out for the Launch Party, enjoy some food, wine, music and fun while learning more about the opportunity to form teams for this year’s Tour of Paso, an annual bike ride and wine fest that directly benefits the Cancer Support Community – California Central Coast, formerly The Wellness Community.

“The Launch Party is such a fun way to get to know others and learn more about how fun it is to ride as a team,” said CSCCCC Executive Director Christie Kelly. “Our annual bike ride is an important event. Fighting cancer takes a team and our programs — from prevention to education and support to financial assistance and survivorship — embody that team spirit. The Tour of Paso is a beautiful event, in fact it’s inspirational and we invite the entire community to get involved.”

All skill levels, from beginners to advanced, are offered their choice of three routes – 50, 26 and 4-miles – through the Paso Robles wine country region, all starting and ending at Niner Estates off Highway 46 West. Riders raising more than $500 are eligible for prizes donated by local businesses; an awards ceremony and barbecue lunch will take place at the finish line party.
“We expect a lot of competition this year for the title of First Place Team which includes course bragging rights and the coveted Founders Team Trophy,” said Kelly. “We raised over $100,000 last year and we are aiming to beat our own record. Rumor has it that the bike shops are already mobilized and out raising funds, Best Bike Zone and K-Man in particular. Of course the Il Cortile team, last year’s winner, wants to keep the trophy just where it is — in their restaurant!”

Funds raised will help provide free cancer support for patients, caregivers and loved ones throughout San Luis Obispo County. Sponsorship opportunities are available – various levels will receive merchandise such as bike jerseys and wine, as well as name recognition, logo placement and more.
