Glenn Burdette awarding $15,000 in scholarships

In honor of the firm’s 50th anniversary in business, Glenn Burdette, a certified public accounting firm on the Central Coast with an office in Paso Robles, will fund $15,000 in scholarships for local 2015 high school graduates.

Glenn Burdette employs more than 60 people in offices in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria, so students in each region, including North County, San Luis Obispo, Five Cities and the Santa Maria/Nipomo area, will have the chance to compete for one of the three $5,000 scholarships.

“We wanted to do something that would leave a lasting impression instead of hosting a big anniversary party,” said Dan O’Hare, Glenn Burdette’s president and managing director. “Accountants have this reputation for being analytical and serious, so we thought, let’s have some fun with this and do something different for the application. We’re turning 50, so in honor of that, we decided on the theme, ‘Name 50 reasons why being an accountant is awesome!'” O’Hare said.

O’Hare said that extra points will be given for creative “50 reasons why” submissions. The firm is accepting all formats, including video, photography, and written entries.Glenn Burdette

Requirements in addition to the “50 reasons why accountants are awesome” submission

    • Student plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a degree in accounting or related field
    • Must have 3.0 GPA or higher
    • Must include school’s generic scholarship application
    • Student must include a cover letter explaining why they should be chosen

The deadline to apply is March 31. Winning entries may be featured in a print advertisement celebrating Glenn Burdette’s 50th Anniversary. Entries may be used as displays in Glenn Burdette offices in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria. For scholarship details, visit glennburdette.com/scholarship.
