Tickets still available for local production of ‘In the Heights’

North County Theatre Works presents debut show this weekend
– There’s still time to purchase tickets as the cast and crew of the newly-formed North County Theatre Works presents their debut performance with the contemporary Broadway musical “In the Heights” on Friday, July 3 and Sunday, July 5 at the Templeton Performing Arts Center.
Information on the production company’s social media page gives the story background: “In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood full of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.”
The website broadway.com, in its description of “In the Heights,” states this, “high-energy show features lovable characters, a contemporary Latin-flavored score and Tony-winning hip-hop dance moves. But it’s also very sweet and sentimental, wearing its heart on its sleeve. You may even get a little misty-eyed by the end.”
With a cast of dynamic local talent that includes cast and crew members from Atascadero, Paso Robles, Templeton, Morro Bay and San Miguel, the show promises to have audience members dancing in their seats.
Directed by Catherine Kingsbury, with Marcy Goodnow and Lauren Josephs, the local production of In the Heights is choreographed by PRHS alumnus Courtney Brock. Kingsbury heads up the Templeton High School theater department and manages the Templeton Performing Arts Center. At Paso Robles High School, Goodnow teaches drama, leadership and dance.
Make plans to see In the Heights on July 3 at 7 p.m. or July 5 at 2 or 7 p.m. at the Templeton Performing Arts Center, located at 1200 S. Main St. in Templeton.
