    – The owner of the Atascadero News says the publisher of the Atascadero Daily News is stepping on his name, according to a cease and desist letter sent by attorneys this week, KSBY reported Friday night.

In mid-June, John Tompkins, owner of Atascadero News parent company News Media Corporation, left a voice mail for his former employee Scott Brennan. In it, Tompkins says, “You’ve got my attention now, so I’ll be coming after you – personally…You want to go to war with us? We’ll go to war.”

“I was just shocked. I was surprised. I couldn’t believe it, and I wasn’t 100 percent sure he was serious until I got an email from their attorneys Wednesday,” Brennan said.
