Rotary Winemakers’ Cookoff announces participating wineries and breweries

– The Paso Robles Rotary Club has announced its lineup of local wineries and breweries pouring at the 17th Annual Winemakers’ Cookoff. There will be over 20 winemakers and brewmasters competing at the fundraiser to see who can serve up the best culinary creations to pair with their beverages. Guests get the chance to enjoy the food and drink and vote for the best chef. Official judges will pick winners in addition to the people’s choice.
The wineries and breweries set to compete at the cookoff include Adelaida Cellars, Ancient Peaks, Arroyo Robles, Barrel House Brewing Co., Bianchi Winery, Broken Earth, Calcareous Vineyard, Cali Paso, Clavo Cellars, Derby Wine Estates, Diablo Paso, Eberle Winery, Grizzly Republic, J. Lohr, Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards, Michael Rose Cellars, Pear Valley, The Price Book, Rio Seco, Self Family Vineyards, Sextant, Shale Oak, Tackitt Family Vineyards, and Villa San Juilette. Vine Catering will also be competing. In addition to the competitors, Cass Winery will be pouring.
“We have a fantastic group of local wineries and breweries and we are really excited for this year’s event,” says event co-chair Sharon Ross. “Based on the ticket sales, this will be one of our best-attended Winemakers’ Cookoff’s in years,” she said.
Official judges for the 2015 Winemakers’ Cookoff are five respected food and wine industry professionals: Robert Whitley, a San Diego-based syndicated wine writer and wine-industry judge, Mike Cervin, a Santa Barbara-based food and wine journalist and author; Kathy Marcks-Hardesty, a local wine industry journalist; William S. Carter, the Innkeeper and Chef of The Canyon Villa in Paso Robles, and Brigit Binns, a cookbook author and popular food blogger.
During its seventeen-year history, the Paso Robles Winemakers’ Cookoff has become one of Paso Robles’ most-popular wine, food and music events. Since the first Winemakers’ Cookoff in 1999, proceeds from the Winemakers’ Cookoff have been deposited in Rotary’s Harlow Ford Scholarship Foundation building a perpetual fund that has enabled the Paso Robles Rotary Club to award scholarships exceeding $400,000 as well as build a perpetual fund that will help guarantee future scholarship benefits.
