Driver veers off Hwy. 1 hitting five cars

The driver of a Ford Edge SUV crashed off of Highway 1 early Sunday morning, hitting parked cars and damaging two garages on Studio Drive in Cayucos. At about 8 a.m., Roberto Covey, 35, of San Luis Obispo fell asleep while traveling southbound and drove off the west side of the road, according to reports.
The vehicle went through a perimeter fence, hit five parked vehicles and pushed two of them into garages.
A passenger in Covey’s SUV Covey suffered minor injuries from the crash, according to reports. Nether the driver nor the passenger were taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Emergency responders from Cayucos Fire, Cal Fire, San Luis Ambulance and California Highway Patrol were on scene.
