– Cindy Steinbeck of Steinbeck Vineyards and Winery will conduct another informational meeting about her grassroots movement to reject the Paso Robles Basin Water District.
Steinbeck believes adjudication will better serve the needs of North San Luis Obispo County property owners. Each month she shares her views at her winery.
Steinbeck contends the proposed water district will be controlled by large corporate property owners. She says it’s not “local control,” it’s “controlling the locals.”
She says water dealers are buying North County property with the intent of selling water from the Paso Robles aquifer to municipalities in Southern California. Some are now offering to buy water from local growers at $500 an acre foot to sell to Southern California at $5,000 per acre foot.
Steinbeck’s grassroots movement, Protect Your Water Rights, has grown from five members to over 500. She says she submitted enough protest signatures to the San Luis Obispo County Supervisors to demonstrate there are enough votes to defeat funding for the Paso Robles Basin Water District when it comes to a vote in early 2016.
Steinbeck’s informational meeting gets underway at 6 p.m. Oct. 14, at Steinbeck Winery, 5940 Union Rd, Paso Robles.

Can Cindy Steinbeck show where she gets her information? Where is the water being delivered at $5000.00 per acre foot? Is there a website to buy it from? $500.00 to $5000.00 is a heck of a return on capital but I'm not seeing water trucks flying down the freeway as I should with this kind of money making opportunity.

The price for water being sold is not the central issue, Why should any water be sold when it is needed locally
