County board of supervisors to stay neutral on water district vote

–The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to stay neutral on Measures A and B, which will decide whether of not to create and fund a water district for the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin. Supervisors had the opportunity to participate in the district formation vote as the county owns 29 acres scattered throughout the basin, mostly in the form of vacant lots.
Supervisor Debbie Arnold proposed a “No” vote and pull the item from the consent agenda, but the movement died from lack of a second. The board decided to take staff recommendation and take no action on the item.
On issues like these, “We typically stay out of it and let the voters decide,” said Supervisor Frank Mecham.
