–Cuesta College’s Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery is gearing up for the college’s Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition, running April 15 – May 13, with an opening reception on the evening of April 15. The event celebrates the work of the Cuesta College Fine Arts Program students.

“In conjunction with the student art exhibit, the fine arts department will be hosting an open house and a ‘Small Works’ faculty exhibition in the Wicked Step Gallery, located near the Harold J. Miossi Gallery,” said Art Gallery Assistant Sabrina Jenkins. “We invite the community, faculty, staff, and current, incoming and prospective Cuesta College students to take this opportunity to visit and tour the fine arts department, chat with instructors and view working studios.”

The April 15 event schedule is as follows:
    3 – 5 p.m.: Open house and faculty exhibit
    4 – 7 p.m.: Annual juried student exhibition
    5:30 p.m. – Student awards ceremony

“We expect to have fine art submissions in the mediums of ceramics, digital art, drawing, graphic design, mixed media, painting, photography and more,” said Jenkins. “This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain recognition for their work and get a taste of professional exhibition practices and procedures.”

The student works will be juried by artist Robbie Conal, a satirical street poster artist. Last year, the Juried Student Art Exhibit featured 62 works from 42 students.

The Harold J Miossi Art Gallery is located in room 7170, on the San Luis Obispo campus of Cuesta College. It is open Monday-Friday, 12 – 4 p.m. and the 1st and 3rd Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call (805) 546-3202.
