Boys & Girls Club hosting community open house
Open house held Thursday, April 14 from 6-7:30 p.m.
–The Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County is hosting its 4th annual Community Open House and is welcoming the public, along with the club’s closest friends and supporters to join them in the celebration of the club’s growth.
The open house will take place at the Paso Robles Boys & Girls Club at 600 26th Street on Thursday, April 14 from 6 – 7:30 p.m., with a presentation at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the open house is to increase awareness of the club’s growth in after-school and summer programs for youth and families of the Paso Robles and Atascadero communities.
The highlights of the evening will include a message from the Boys & Girls Club of North SLO County’s board president Todd Evenson and CEO Kate Morgans. “Be Great!” awards will be given to two members who have shown exceptional personal growth and a testimonial will be given by a parent about the positive impacts the club has had on her family.
Guests will be invited to enjoy refreshments as they tour the club, meet the staff and board and learn more about the high quality programming and services offered. In attendance that evening will be the Boys & Girls Club Teen Torch Club class answering guests’ questions about their club. The Torch Club program is a small-group leadership and service club teaching members 21st century skills to encourage members to grow and become active adult citizens who contribute positively to their community.
Each Boys & Girls Club members invests only $20 per academic year to participate at the Club, however, it costs the Club $1,500 per child to attend. Boys & Girls Club does not receive funding from the national organization or government entities. Support is raised through local donations, fundraising events and campaigns.
Over 175 children attend the club after school each day between the Paso Robles and Atascadero sites. The two sites also run a full-day camp during the summer (additional fees apply to the summer program). Children complete their homework each afternoon after school and during the summer, participate in the Brain Gain Initiative, a fun, high-impact academic program designed to stop learning loss.
