“We are thrilled to be opening the research library to the public,” said Joyce Herman, Friends of the Adobe member. “This grand opening is the culmination of many hours of work by our dedicated volunteers and we invite everyone to come out and help us celebrate.”
Built around a considerable collection of books, documents, and photographs bequeathed to the Friends of the Adobe by the late historian and educator Wally Ohles, the research library continues to grow as additional materials are donated from families in the area. It currently holds over 1,000 books focusing on the history of San Luis Obispo County, California, and the West.
For those interested in conducting research on and learning more about the history of the above-mentioned areas, the Rios-Caledonia Research Library will be open through the spring on Fridays from 12:30-3 p.m. or by special appointment; summer hours to be announced soon.
