–Local author and fitness enthusiast Jeanne “Bean” Murdock will release her fourth book, “That’s a Bunch of Quackery! How to Avoid being Pick-Pocketed by Misleading Claims in the Fitness Industry.” Whole Foods Market in San Luis Obispo will host a book signing on Saturday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Murdock’s aim with the book is to, “provide the knowledge necessary to recognize and avoid bogus claims and teaches readers to see through the absurdity that companies use to reel in unsuspecting individuals and their money.” She says she, “emboldens the public to choose health and build wealth by acting according to evidence-based claims, not fear, while keeping a sense of humor.”

After graduating from Cal Poly’s physical education program, Murdock started Beanfit Health and Fitness Services, focusing on personal fitness training for the first 12 years. During this time, she said she was astounded by, “not only the desperate measures that people took to lose weight but also the excuses people made to avoid the healthy route.”
