Twin Cities Hospital collects cereal to help feed local kids
Hospitals donate 1,800 servings of cereal 
–Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and Twin Cities Community Hospital just completed a community-wide effort to provide local families with a healthy breakfast during the summer months through its Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive benefitting The Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County. The drive kicked off Friday, June 3 and ran through Friday, June 10.
Together, employees from both hospitals donated 1,800 servings of cereal and $1,200 to help feed local children who may be struggling with hunger during their summer break. That money will be matched by Tenet Healthcare. There are 44,000 San Luis Obispo County residents who struggle with hunger and unfortunately 40-percent of those are children.
“I am so proud of our colleagues for tackling childhood hunger through our cereal drive,” said Shannon Downing, director of marketing, Central Coast service area. “Helping others is at the heart of what we do every day at Sierra Vista and Twin Cities hospitals. Because good nutrition is essential to good health, we wanted to help lead the fight against hunger on the Central Coast and make a difference in our local communities.”
