“I beg anyone who recognizes this dog or has any info an a dog thrown off bridge on Union Road in Paso Robles to speak up,” said Stacey Wideman. “Please give this guy we named Union Jack a chance for justice!”
Paso Robles resident took it upon herself to cremate the dog, is asking public for help in identifying culprit
–The decomposing body of a large male pit bull was found Friday bagged up in a trash bag in the riverbed after he was apparently tossed off of Union Road Bridge in Paso Robles. The dog was found with trauma injuries to his head. It’s unclear as to whether the dog was hit in the head then bagged up and thrown off the bridge, or if he sustained the injuries as a result of the fall.
Wideman believes that the dog looked a lot like this black pit bull, with a white mark on his chest and on his feet.
Paso Robles resident and owner of Foxy Doxy Dachshund and Dog Rescue Stacey Wideman was called by the owners of the property near where the dog was found and told about the situation. She and her boyfriend Gregg Rouleau took it upon themselves to collect the dog and bring him in to be cremated. She posted a picture of the dog on her Facebook with a call to action for the people of Paso Robles to help identify who it was that may have possibly committed the crime.
“I beg anyone who recognizes this dog or has any info an a dog thrown off bridge on Union Road in Paso Robles to speak up,” she wrote. “Please give this guy we named Union Jack a chance for justice!”
Wideman said that she examined the body for evidence of additional trauma or potentially bullet holes, in case the dog had been killed before being dumped for whatever reason. She believes that due to the nature of the trauma being localized in the dog’s head, not his legs or chest, he sustained blunt force trauma to his head before being dumped.
Wideman and her boyfriend removed the dog from the Riverbed and took him to El Camino Vet. Wideman had received some donations to cover the cost, and the rest was graciously covered by Oak Hills Memorial Pet Care who performed the cremation.
“I know that he is gone, but it still mattered to me that he had a proper burial,” she said. “RIP now Union Jack…You will never be treated like trash here!”
Anyone with information on the dog can call San Luis Obispo County Animal Control at (805) 781-4400. Citizens can make statements without giving their name.

Thank you Stacy & Gregg for the compassion shown to Union Jack… and also to El Camino Veterinary In Atascadero and Oak Hill Memorial Pet Care for so graciously assisting with the costs to care for him. I only hope & pray someone will come forward with any information on who did this so that felony animal abuse charges can be filed & the sadistic vile person or persons pay for their inhumanity to this poor dog.
