City council discusses Creston Road repairs

Council accepts state grant to fund project study paso-city-seal

–At the most recent Paso Robles City Council Meeting, the council unanimously accepted a $185,000 state grant to conduct public outreach that will assure that the future design of Creston Road street improvements are aligned with community need and budget capabilities.

This outreach effort will be an opportunity to educate the public of what designs are possible and what they would cost, according to Assistant City Manager Meg Williamson. The planning and outreach process will not bind the council into any particular type of street design, but will allow the city to gain public input on design possibilities for Creston Road improvements.

    Improvements slated could include:

    • Installing a new signal at Lana and Creston Road to address pedestrian safety adjacent to Winifred Pifer School.
    • Upgrading the signal at Golden Hill Road to provide a protected left turn phase from Creston to Golden Hill Road.
    • Performing some localized “hot spot” repairs at various “failed areas”. The council has already adopted a budget of $700,000 for this effort.
    • Evaluating an existing 300-foot masonry block wall for structural capability and determine who and/or how to address the repairs.

I'm glad they're considering a protected left turn onto Golden Hill. I've seen some gnarly accidents there.
