    Parkfield Bluegrass Festival set for May 11-14

    –The Bluegrass Music Society of the Central Coast (BMSCC) has announced that the 19th Annual Parkfield Bluegrass Festival is set for May 11-14. Headlining Parkfield 2017 will be two legendary California bands: Sawmill Road and the Cache Valley Drifters, rounding out with the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Momentum Award winning Lonely Heartstring Band.

    Bluegrass music fans take over the country village of Parkfield once a year for four days of concerts, workshops, children’s activities, camping and around-the-clock music jams! Visitors are welcome for a day or to camp for the weekend. Campsites are available for tents or RVs. Showers are also available. A limited number of electrical hook-ups can be reserved with early ticket purchases.

    This year’s line-up includes:

    • The legendary Bluegrass band, Sawmill Road.
    • The Cache Valley Drifters
    • The Lonely Heartstring Band
    • Back by popular demand will be Snap Jackson and The Knock On Wood Players along with Pacific Drive, Blue Summit, The Blue J’s, Have More Fun String Band, the Hossette, Dim Lights, Ynana Rose Band, Honeysuckle Possums and Amber Cross.

     

    Activities include instrumental, vocal and dance workshops for young and old led by featured band members. Loaner instruments are available for kids and there is a Sunday performance by the kids. Kid activities will also include a craft creation class and a bedtime sing-along. Returning this year will be the walking tour of the San Andreas Fault lead by a USGS geologist. More activities include an Earthquake workshop and a barn dance on Friday May 12 at 10 pm in the community room.
