Shelter in place called at Bauer Speck Arts Academy
Call lifted after 10 minutes
–The staff at the Arts Academy at Bauer Speck was asked to shelter in place Wednesday. A few students witnessed a car burglary outside of campus at approximately 1 p.m. The police were called and, after 10 minutes, lifted the shelter in place.
Below is the message sent to parents:
Good afternoon Bobcat parents,
I’m calling to let you know of a minor incident that occurred earlier today outside of the Bauer Speck campus. At approximately 1:00, several students reported seeing a car burglary. At that time, the school staff was notified to shelter in place which means to keep all students safely inside the classrooms. Upon police investigation, the campus was cleared to return to normal activity.
While the shelter in place lasted only 10 minutes, I thought it was important to share with you. I am so proud of our students for being respectful, safe, and responsible. Our staff did an outstanding job keeping our students safe and secure.
