YMCA’s 9th Annual Jump-In Competition is April 29

For the jump rope portion of the day, local students have been busy practicing and perfecting their jumping skills. Each school site team picks a theme for music and costumes and choreographs a routine. A panel of local judges will choose the best performances based on skill and creativity. The top three teams will get trophies. All participants will receive medals for their hard work and dedication.
The Jump-In event demonstrates the SLO County YMCA’s motto: “For youth development, for healthy living, for social responsibility,” and is part of their HEPA (Healthy Eating and Physical Activity) program. Jumping rope is not only a great activity for kids after school but also an excellent form of exercise. It also encourages children to participate in other forms of exercise besides traditional sports teams. This family-oriented competition at Cuesta College is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 29. There will be healthy living displays and fun for the whole family. The event is sponsored by Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, Rabobank, Heal SLO, and Cuesta College. Attendance is free to the public, parking is $2.
