    – Due to the devastating impact from Hurricane Harvey in Texas, blood is in immediate demand to help those injured. As multiple blood donation centers in Texas are not able to collect or disperse blood because of the storm, KSBY is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, Aug. 30 to send to victims of Hurricane Harvey. The drive will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1772 Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo. For further donations, a blood donor center can be found at 4119 Broad Street, STE 100, San Luis Obispo. Those eligible to donate blood must be at least 16 years old with a parent’s permission, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.

Donating blood is a free and safe way to help support those affected by Hurricane Harvey. If you are interested in making a financial donation, organizations such as the Red Cross are making a positive impact in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Animal rescue organizations, such as the Humane Society of the United States, welcomes monetary donations and volunteer assistance in rescuing and caring for animals affected by the storm. Donations can be made, and more information on other ways to help can be found at redcross.org and humanesociety.org.
