Thousands attend Vine Street Victorian Showcase
–Despite cold temperatures and parking challenges, thousands visited the Vine Street Victorian Christmas Saturday night in Paso Robles.
Again this year, the Paso Robles Marching Band led the parade to open the Vine Street event. City Councilman John Hamon and several other dignitaries rode in the historic horse trolley behind the band.
The Victorian Christmas event featured sledding for kids, singers and musical groups and many homes, and a nativity scene with sheep and mules. Attired in Victorian-era clothing, Norma Moye sat on her front porch and greeted passersby.
Children who wanted to talk with Santa could use a direct line at a phone booth outside Grace Pucci’s home. Santa answered the calls from inside the Victorian home. There was a call every 30-60 seconds for three hours.
Most of the homes along Vine Street between 8th Street and 21st offered entertainment or free refreshments to those strolling along Vine Street.
The Vine Street Victorian event exceeded expectations. The crowd appeared to be the largest ever, and most walked away with great memories of the annual tradition.
