County seeking pollworkers for upcoming election

If anyone is unsure of their registration status, they should contact the elections office as Monday, May 7 is the last day to register to vote in order to receive the county sample ballot booklet and state information guide. Anyone registering after May 5 and before the final registration deadline of May 19 will receive only a postcard notification of their polling place. Voters can now use the state’s online registration system to register to vote, which can be accessed at www.slovote.com.
The County Clerk-Recorder’s office is looking in need of pollworkers and Adopt-a-Poll groups to staff the polls for the June 5 election. The County employs approximately 1,000 precinct workers to work at the polls on Election Day. Pollworkers must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and a registered voter in California or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Traditionally, it is a challenge to fill pollworker assignments during the June election because of activities related to the end of the school year and vacations. This year is no exception. Adopt- a-Polls are great fundraisers for service clubs, church groups, and non-profit organizations where these groups utilize their members to fill the pollworker slots at a precinct, which can be performed in shifts. An organization can earn from $448-$525 for working on Election Day and attending the precinct worker training sessions.
Be a part of democracy and assist voters at the polls on Election Day. For more information, please contact the County Clerk-Recorder’s office by completing the pollworker application at www.slovote.com, via email at precinctworker@co.slo.ca.us, or call (805) 781-5228.
