    ‘Best Buddies’ bike ride to travel through Central Coast Saturday 

    –The 13th Annual Best Buddies Challenge Bicycle Ride will take place on Highway 1, 41 and 46 on Saturday, Sept. 8 beginning at the Hearst Ranch Warehouse on San Simeon Road near Hwy. 1 at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 10 a.m. One phase of this event will begin at 11 a.m. in Ragged Point.

    Traffic control for this non-competitive ride will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. and will include rolling closures by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). This ride will travel south from Hwy. 1 to Hwy. 41 near Morro Bay to east of Atascadero and Hwy. 46 West between Templeton and Hwy. 1 north of Harmony.

    Electronic Message Boards will be posted alerting motorists to ‘Share the Road’ with cyclists. Motorists can expect delays not to exceed 15 minutes. All riders will be off the road by 4 p.m.

    Caltrans reminds motorists to be aware of these cyclists and any support vehicles.

    Funds raised through the Best Buddies Challenge benefit Best Buddies International – the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
