Make a Dia de los Muertos shrine at the library

–The Paso Robles City Library invites the public to create a miniature Day of the Dead “shrine” on Saturday, Oct. 6, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Shrines will feature a “sugar” skull drawing, beads and sequins to represent flowers, and a heart (el Corazón) to symbolize love for the deceased. Participants are welcome to bring any other small items (no bigger than 1” high) to include.

Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos, is a celebration in which family and friends gather to remember those who have passed away and to help support their spiritual journey by creating altars that include photos of loved ones, possessions that belonged to them, and some of their favorite foods, along with symbolic sugar skulls and marigolds.

Visit http://www.prcity.com/246/Classes-Events to sign up. Space is limited. Family groups are welcome, however due to the nature of the tools and materials used, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The Paso Robles City Library is located at 1000 Spring Street and is open Monday – Friday 10-8, and Saturday 10-5. For more information on library programs and events, call (805) 237-3870 or visit www.prcity.com/library.
