City council approves employee parking plan

–The Paso Robles City Council unanimously approved an employee parking plan Tuesday night to free up parking spaces for retail customers. The city will sell 150 parking permits at $5 per month to employees who work downtown. Those permits will allow downtown employees to park in any of five designated parking lots.

Consultant Julie Dixon, who coordinated the plan with stakeholders, downtown businesses, and the Paso Robles Downtown Main Street Association, says more parking lots may be introduced as the employee parking plan grows and evolves.

The intent of the plan is to free up parking spaces for retail shoppers, restaurant customers and visitors to art galleries, wine tasting rooms, downtown theaters, and other entertainment venues.

The plan goes into effect Nov. 1 with implementation beginning Dec. 1. The program is expected to facilitate Christmas shopping this holiday season.
