Paso Robles may receive up to 2-4-inches of rain with storm system
–Although Paso Robles received light rain Wednesday, PG & E Meteorologist John Lindsey says the brunt of the storm will arrive Thursday in the North County. Rain fall may reach 2-4″ in many areas, and as high as 6″ at higher elevations. The wind is expected to pick up on Thursday, as well, to 30-35 miles per hour. At the coast, the National Weather Service has issued an advisory for high surf. Waves may reach 10-18 feet through Thursday morning, peaking in the afternoon between 17-19 feet. A secondary swell may increase the waves to 20-24 feet through Friday morning.
So far, Paso Robles has measured 1.68-inches of rain for the past 24 hours, bringing the season total to 2.46-inches. To view rainfall totals, click here.
Highway One was closed in two locations near Big Sur because of the big storm. At noon Wednesday, Cal Trans closed the highway at Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide. It will reopen after the storm passes and the roadway is examined for erosion. One can still reach Big Sur by Nacimiento-Ferguson Road through the mountains.
On Turtle Creek Road in Paso Robles, the rain and changing season littered the roadway with leaves.
