    Magnitude 6.4 earthquake in Southern California felt in parts of North County 

    –A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck in Southern California yesterday, July 4 at approximately 10:33 a.m. The earthquake was felt throughout much of the state, including North San Luis Obispo County. The epicenter was 11 miles from Ridgecrest, CA.

    The earthquake caused structural damage and injuries near the epicenter, according to reports. It was preceded at 10 a.m. by a 4.2-magnitude quake. More than 80 aftershocks, ranging from 3.0 to 4.7 in magnitude, shook the area within the first three hours after the quake, according to the USGS.
