Obituary for Vern Mathison, 89
–On July 11, former Paso Robles Police Chief, Vern Mathison passed away at the age of 89. Vern Mathison started his career with the Paso Robles Police Department in 1953. In 1972 he was promoted to Chief of Police where he served in that role for 13 years.
Chief Mathison was well-respected in the community and by those who served under him. Former officers recalled his friendly, laid-back attitude. Chief Mathison took pride in the organization and set high expectations, placing a priority on service to the community.
Mr. Mathison, we thank you for your 32 years of service to this great city and noble profession. Rest easy, Sir.
