SLO Symphony begins season Oct. 5 with Beethoven’s Eighth
–The San Luis Obispo Symphony is embarking on a fantastic musical journey for the 2019- 2020 season, beginning Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center.
This season will explore the cultures and religions of India with composer and guest soloist Mark Hetzler, catch a glimpse of Heaven with Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 featuring soprano Amy Goymerac, and discover the treasures of imperial Russia with award-winning pianist Ilya Yakushev. Plus, because there’s no place like home, one special concert will feature the incredible talents of some prized local musicians.
It all begins with Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony on Saturday, Oct. 5. Led by music director Andrew Sewell, the San Luis Obispo Symphony will open the new season with a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s daring, joyous, and experimental Symphony No. 8, followed by Richard Strauss’ epic symphonic poem Ein Heldenleben (“A Hero’s Life”).

Ticket holders are invited to come early for Symphonic Forays, an intimate conversation that precedes each performance in our Concerts in the Cohan series. Symphonic Forays begins at 6:30 p.m. and is included in the price of the ticket.
