– The seventh annual Central Coast Tennis Classic, a $60,000 ITF World Tennis Tour and USTA Pro-Circuit women’s tournament, will return to Templeton Tennis Ranch on Sept. 22-28.
The Central Coast Tennis Classic is the next stop on the USTA Pro Circuit following the U.S. Open. Organizers noted the tournament has become a stage for professional female players, many of whom have gone on to compete internationally.
Currently at the U.S. Open in New York, 23 of the 132 main draw players have previously competed on the Templeton Tennis Ranch courts.
Last year’s Central Coast Tennis Classic champion, Renata Zarazua, defeated sixth-ranked Madison Keys in the first round of the U.S. Open. Jessica Pegula, ranked fourth in the world, played in the Templeton tournament in 2018. McCartney Kessler, ranked 32nd, was the 2023 Central Coast Tennis Classic doubles champion. Alexandra Eala, who competed in Templeton in 2022, recently defeated Clara Tauson of Denmark, ranked 14th, becoming the first Filipina to win a Grand Slam match. Taylor Townsend, the 2023 Templeton champion, is currently the world’s top-ranked doubles player.
Other past Templeton competitors now in the U.S. Open main draw include Elsa Jacquemot, Marie Bouskova, Alyssa Ahn, Lulu Sun, Yue Yuan, Ann Li, Victoria Mboko, Anastasia Potapova, Alycia Parks, Katie Boulter, Hailey Baptiste, Ashlyn Krueger, Sofia Kenin, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Victoria Golubic, Caroline Dolehide, Katie Volynets, and Rebecca Marino.
Organizers said the tournament continues to highlight players advancing from Stadium Court at Templeton Tennis Ranch to international venues such as Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
