Letter: Councilwoman is a qualified and extraordinary leader
To the editor,
– I have had the privilege of being both a friend and colleague of Sharon Roden for many years now. I served as the treasurer while Sharon was the chairman of the board, of an organization with a multimillion-dollar budget. Our term began during unsteady times, with an uncertain direction for the organization.
Sharon did a marvelous job of navigating these undefined times and steered the organization in the right direction at all times. Sharon accomplished this through her unwavering dedication. Sharon made it a point to attend all committee meetings that made up our organization, she did this not to usurp leadership from the committee leaders, but rather to support them and listen to them.
One of Sharon’s greatest leadership qualities is her willingness to listen to everyone and truly understand their point of view to the best of her ability. She led when necessary and empowered others to lead when that was the correct course of action.
Sharon was always transparent and tirelessly worked for the good of the entire organization, not the individual. Our organization was at a better place at the end of Sharon’s tenure than at the beginning in many areas.
Sharon was a qualified and extraordinary leader. As stated, Sharon is a friend of mine. She is loyal, honest, and steadfast in her friendship. If you are blessed to have her as a friend she will be by your side for life. One cannot ask for more than that.
Sincerely,
Rudy T. Hernandez, SLO County
