Letter: Italian family circus in Paso Robles is a pure delight
To the editor,
– My family and friends celebrated my aunt’s 83rd birthday by attending the Zoppé Family Circus during their current run in Paso Robles. What pure delight! This historic Italian circus, now in its seventh generation, brings an intimacy and authenticity that’s so refreshing compared to today’s big corporate spectacle-generating machine. This was truly magical. Everyone in our party, regardless of age, was transported with childlike wonder. It was awesome.
The single-ring format puts every audience member close to the action, creating an immediate connection between performers and spectators. Watching the aerial artists swing and soar overhead, hearing the collective gasps of amazement from children and adults alike, reminds us why live circus arts have such a noble history and why we should support small family businesses, even those creating under the big top!
The equestrian acts are amazing and, for our community, especially relevant. The riders display remarkable skill and precision, with stunning acrobatic sequences atop galloping horses. And Giovanni Zoppé’s performance as Nino the Clown, along with a special assistant or two, engages the audience with utter charm. I don’t want to give away any of the surprises, but really you should go see it for yourself. And bundle up! It’s chilly but so fun.
For families looking to share something special this holiday week, or anyone needing a reminder of how magical live performance can be, the Zoppé Family Circus offers a perfect blend of skill, storytelling, and genuine warmth. Their presence in our community is a gift worth celebrating.
