Letter: Free speech belongs to all Americans, not one side

    letter to the editor

    To the editor,

This attack on free speech and dissent is no joke. It’s beyond politics. It is damaging our precious country. If you are a Trump supporter, you might think, “Hurray for our side,” but there are no sides. It is one America we all live in.

This loss of freedoms diminishes the country, for all of us. We all need to wake up and defend our Constitution. It is very difficult, Republican or Democrat, to get these freedoms back once they are taken away.

Well said, short and to the point. While I disagree with most everything posted from the left I will always defend their right to say it and will express my will at the voting box.

Yes, free speech is for everyone; not just those in power. But until this country has elected leaders who believe this strongly (even to extent of getting voted out) this constitutional freedom will always be in doubt. Look no further than at the top elected office in this country – it must start there.
