Letter: Paso Robles volunteers serve nearly 100 individuals this winter

    letter to the editor

    Paso community,

    – Wanting to keep the community in the loop, we are sending this letter to you regarding this year’s warming center in Paso Robles. First off, thank you to Highlands Church, Plymouth Congregational Church, and First United Methodist Church for opening their doors to us. This could not have happened without the support of these churches.

Secondly, thank you to the volunteers who came out to cook meals, serve meals, help with the check-in process, and overnight chaperoning. This could not happen without the help of volunteers.

Thirdly, thank you to all of the people who donated food, lunches, snack bags, clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, jackets, and clean socks. You have made a world of difference in the lives of many.

This is the third year this group of volunteers has come together to provide a warming center in Paso Robles, for the local unhoused. The first was in January 2023 when the torrential rains hit this area, and no other agencies stepped up. The first year this group served 156 unique individuals. The oldest was 83.

This year the group has served 99 unique individuals, the oldest being 73 years old and the youngest only 1. We provided 337 bed-nights; 393 dinners; 337 breakfasts and sack lunches for local unhoused individuals.

We believe that one can find Hope & Faith in the riverbed or under the bridges, because Paso Cares.

    Thank you,
Volunteers of Hope & Faith Street Outreach – hope.faith.outreach2020@gmail.com and Volunteers of Paso Cares – pasocares@gmail.com.

    Aurora William, Paso Robles
