Letter: Substantiation is needed across political spectrum
To the editor,
– I agree with the letter to the editor I read today regarding the need to substantiate claims regarding, what I assume is, journalistic writing, with one exception, the scope of the need is not just on the left but also on the right and the middle.
I also think substantiation needs to come from politicians. Their words are powerful and often, I feel, made carelessly because they feel they don’t need to back up their claim with facts. To keep this civil, I won’t substantiate my opinion, but I could. I’m given examples almost daily.
Until we hold journalists, politicians, business leaders, in other words, powerful people, accountabele bad people can do bad things and ultimately it is the people with the least power that pay the price.

Great – now how can we this happen, in this age of social media that can spread truth and untruth in an instant? Is it possible that ‘X’, ‘Truth Social’, ‘Instagram’ and many, many other outlets are a big part of the problem of holding anyone accountable?
