    Obituary of Timothy O. Sobey
    Dec. 24, 1950 – May 9, 2025
In the care of Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home

    – Tim Sobey was born on December 24, 1950, in Paso Robles. He attended Paso schools and graduated in 1969 from PRHS as a proud Bearcat. He got an AA degree from Cuesta College and then headed up to British Columbia to remodel the family fishing cabin. Tim ended up living in Canada for 14 years. He did many jobs up there including logging, cowboying, and he owned a cafe.

He move back to the Paso area and started working for the Atascadero School District, where he stayed for 32 years until retirement.

Tim was a sportsman through and through. He started playing in Little League as a kid and played softball his whole life, even ending up competing in the World Senior Games in St. George, Utah. He always loved that week with his team, The Trash Dogs, at the senior games. Eventually, all the running wore him out so he switched over to horseshoes, a little easier on the body, and loved that just as much. He won lots of medals in both sports and proudly displayed them in his sports room at home.

He also kept the reserved seats his parents had at the Bearcat football games. He went to all the games to root for the Bearcat team, which he played for in high school.

Tim’s high school sweetheart was a local girl named Ann Claus. He took her to their senior prom, and they made plans for their future. Life happened and it didn’t work out as planned, but when he moved home from Canada, he looked her u,p and they married at last. They had 30 years together.

Tim was a hard worker, a good friend, a helpful neighbor, and had a strong faith which held him up during his toughest days.

He leaves behind his wife, Ann, two dearly beloved children, Beau and Sara, five grandchildren, a sister, Claudia, a brother, Daniel, and a sister, Cathy. He will be greatly missed.

If you wish to donate in his name, one of his favorite charities is Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian organization that sends relief to tragedy-stricken areas worldwide. https://www.samaritanspurse.org/

Another local favorite was the Bearcat Boosters.
