Lewis-Flamson Middle School lockdown lifted after investigation finds no threat

    – A report of a possible firearm near Lewis-Flamson Middle School prompted a lockdown on Thursday afternoon, according to a press release from the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District.

A student at the middle school reported hearing about a person near campus possibly in possession of a firearm at approximately 12:50 p.m. A loud noise was also reported.

In response, the school resource officer initiated a lockdown and requested backup from the Paso Robles Police Department. Officers arrived at the school within four minutes and secured the campus while administrators began an investigation.

The police department detained and searched a juvenile near the campus. Several students were interviewed, but no one reported seeing a firearm. Officers conducted a thorough search of the campus and surrounding areas.

After an extensive investigation, no firearm, evidence of gunfire, injuries, or victims were found. The situation was determined to be a false alarm.

Once all students were accounted for and the campus was confirmed safe, the lockdown was lifted. School dismissed at its regularly scheduled time.

The school district and the police department emphasized their commitment to ensuring safety and responding to potential threats.

School counselors are available to support students processing the incident. Parents or guardians seeking assistance for their students are encouraged to contact the school office.
