William Wallis of Paso Robles, a junior at Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School, just finished his 2024 motorsport racing season and is preparing for competitions in 2025.

Wallis began racing in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic; his passion for extreme sporting, such as Formula 1 racing, inspired him to try kart racing.

“A lot of drivers have been racing since they were very young kids, whereas I really started when I was a teenager. I want people to know that it is never too late to pursue your passion. If you put in the work and the love for the sport is there, you can do great things. I love what I do and I am very passionate about my racing. It requires a lot of hard work, determination, and grit,” said Wallis, who is 16 years old.

In 2024, race results for Wallis include taking first position at the Sports Car Club of America Championship 4 Hour Endurance Race, second position at the Colby Dubato Memorial Race in August, and third position at the National Auto Sport Association NorCal Spec Miata Championship in July.

He has also competed at the 2024 Cup Karts North America Spring Nationals in North Carolina; he previously competed in the Cup Karts North America Grand Nationals in 2023. He was second in the California Gold Rush Series in May 2023.

“I am mapping out an ambitious plan for 2025,” Wallis said. “I intend to win both the regional and national Spec Miata Championships and run several one-off Spec MX-5 races on the East Coast. This plan will put me in the best position to compete for several major motorsports scholarships and propel my career forward,” he said.

    Wallis began racing in 2020.

Some of his 2024 sponsors included Wizdog Aviation, Ribas Roofing, Color Craft Printing, Blue Side Up Consultants, Klass Ingredients Inc., SiMEDEx, and Dr. Douglas Moore, DDS. He races for RLV Tuned Exhaust, Inc.

“I am currently looking for partnerships within the community, so that my racing career can continue on an upward trajectory,” Wallis said. “We have some really big and exciting plans for the 2025 season,”

Wallis enjoys spending time with family and friends on the racetrack, along with going to the lake and traveling. He currently has a 4.35 GPA at Mission Prep.

“Outside of racing, I intend to pursue a college degree in engineering and a career in professional motorsports,” Wallis said. “Engineering and mathematical principles lend themselves to racing, so I look forward to combining two of my interests,” he said.
