– Midnight Cellars, a family-owned winery in Paso Robles, has announced the promotion of Brenna Pratt to head winemaker. The change also marks a transition for second-generation owner and winemaker Rich Hartenberger, who will take on the newly created role of director of winemaking.
Pratt has been with Midnight Cellars for three years and is a graduate of Fresno State, where she earned a degree in enology. Reflecting on her journey, Pratt said, “I fell in love with winemaking because it’s a craft built on passion and perseverance. It’s about showing up every day, putting in the hours, and giving your absolute best. There’s no secret to success – it’s about dedication and hard work.”

Hartenberger has been part of the winery for three decades, overseeing its growth since its inception. He noted, “My family and I planted the first vines with our own hands. I have poured my heart, soul, and countless hours into this vineyard and the wines we create. For 30 years, I’ve strived to craft wines to the best of my ability, always rooted in passion and dedication. Now, I believe it’s time for the next generation to take the reins, bring fresh energy, and shape the future while honoring the foundation my family and I have built.”
