Political candidates debate in North County the last time before the March 3 election

–Four supervisorial candidates and three state senate candidates participated in a forum sponsored by the NAACP and the League of Women Voters at the Paso Robles School District board room Wednesday night. The supervisor candidates were the first to answer questions provided by the audience and selected by the League of Women Voters. The questions ranged from climate change to rent control to water issues.

In the supervisorial races, that election will be decisive. The Fifth Supervisorial District includes parts of San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Creston, Pozo and parts of Tempelton. Supervisor Debbie Arnold is the incumbent. She’s been challenged by former Atascadero City Council member Ellen Beraud.

Supervisor John Peschong’s First Supervisorial District includes part of Templeton, Paso Robles, Shandon, San Miguel and northern rural San Luis Obispo County. Peschong is being challenged by Stephanie Shakofsky.

Last night’s debate was the final forum scheduled. The primary election is March 3.
