Wind-driven fire near Vineyard Drive contained by firefighters
No injuries reported
– A brush fire broke out on Tuesday at 12:39 p.m. near Vineyard Drive and Rossi Road in Templeton, according to a press release from the Templeton Fire and Emergency Services Department. A citizen reported the fire, and multiple fire crews responded. In total, 32 firefighters responded to the scene.
When crews arrived, they found flames covering an area about 100 by 200 feet in grass and brush, moving toward nearby homes due to wind and hot temperatures. The firefighters managed to contain the fire at about 2.5 acres.
Access to the fire was challenging because the property was surrounded by fencing. Despite the difficulties, the teams brought the situation under control within 50 minutes. No injuries were reported among civilians or emergency personnel, and no property damage occurred.
The fire started in a parking area on Vineyard Drive, but the exact cause is still unknown. An estimated $4 million worth of property was saved, according to the department.
