1956 Farmall tractor restored by Paso Robles High School student

Tyler Shimke paso robles high school student tractor restoration–Tyler Schimke of Paso Robles High School spent hundreds of hours restoring a 1956 Farmall tractor. Tyler says the tractor operated for decades in the Geneseo area of Paso Robles. Several owners used the tractor over the years on the east side of Paso Robles, including Daniel Lewis, after whom the Paso Robles Middle School is named.

Schimke says the tractor was converted to propane by the original owner shortly after it was purchased new at a now-defunct tractor lot in Paso Robles. He says the propane burned clean, which left the engine in good condition.

Schimke’s PRHS ag advisor, Justin Pickard, presented the old, rusty tractor to Tyler. Tyler’s dad helped in the restoration project. Rich Schimke, former Bearcat football coach, said he enjoyed the project, but that Tyler did most of the work.

The 1956 Farmall tractor and several other tractors restored by local high school students are on display near the livestock area of the California Mid-State Fair.
