23-year-old dies in off-road accident
–23-year-old Wolfgang Wyatt Forbes of San Luis Obispo lost his life in an automobile accident that occurred on April 16, according to California Highway Patrol.
Forbes was driving a Suzuki Samurai on the Stair Step Summit in the Pozo OHV. For unknown reasons, Forbes failed to negotiate a steep descent on a dirt and rock trail, says CHP. The vehicle rolled onto its roof and Forbes was ejected, suffering fatal injuries. A dog owned by Forbes survived.
The collision site was discovered the next day by two, off-duty firefighters who were riding their motorcycles in the area. Due to the rugged terrain, a CHP helicopter was used to transport Cal Fire and CHP personnel to the collision scene for extrication. Forbes had been reported as a missing person to the San Luis Obispo Police Department on April 16.
