27-year-old dies after driving car into light pole 

–On Saturday, May 26, at approximately 2:22 a.m., officers from the Paso Robles Police Department received a report of a single vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Golden Hill and Creston.

Officers from the Paso Robles Police Department, along with personnel from the Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services and San Luis Ambulance responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they located a single vehicle that had struck a light pole at the intersection of Golden Hill and Creston. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The female victim, age 27, has been identified as Chanel Mickelsen from Valley Center, CA. The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound Creston approaching Golden Hill when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor to the cause of this collision.

The Paso Robles Police Department received assistance with this investigation from coroner investigators from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and Paso Robles Public Works Department.
